It wasn’t the focus of his research but Dr Ogas did talk to British porn watchers who were into older women and had this observation.
He stressed that these accounts were anecdotal, not scientific evidence.
British “matron” culture seemed to be a big factor from the men he spoke to.
“It comes from the idea of matrons in British schools. In the past it was allowed to spank or punish school children.
“So some of their first experiences like that were with older women.
“And some of the people that we talked to thought that this may have formed their life-long interest in older women.”
Kenyans learn about sex from their grandparents.
Other countries interest in mature women sex were easier to comprehend said Dr Ogas:
“In Kenya and the Czech Republic there are more clear cultural reasons. In Kenya, you’re not allowed to talk to your parents about sex, but you can talk to your grandparents. So young people there learn about the birds and the bees from their grandmothers.
“In the Czech Republic there are looser laws on prostitution so you get many older women working as prostitutes than you might in other countries. So that might shape people’s experiences there.”
Dr Ogas and his research partner analized over a billion porn-related search terms and noticed that there was another area where Britain stuck out.
Dr Ogas’s research was into what people in the world want most but he found some countries had more interest in certain fetishes than others.
And then there’s the BDSM
Another thing that gets Brits interested is BDSM. It could be related to the interest in mature women speculated the professor.
“Britain also had a strong interest in BDSM. That’s always much more popular than everyone thinks it is but it is notably more popular in Britain.
“Britain has one of the richest cultures of BDSM except possibly Germany and the US.”
